3D Iris Recognition Using Spin Images
Published in 2020 IEEE International Joint Conference on Biometrics (IJCB), 2020
This work proposes a 3D iris recognition method based on spin image descriptors applied to three-dimensional models of the iris surface. By operating in 3D, the approach addresses geometric distortions inherent to 2D planar projections used in conventional iris recognition. The method is evaluated on 3D iris data and demonstrates the viability of spin images as a descriptor for biometric recognition in the 3D domain.
